What it does

What does Sketch Anything do?

Type what you want to draw. The app searches nine image sources, shows you what it found, and then helps you draw the picture you pick — on the screen in Draw Mode, or on paper in Trace Mode.

What is the difference between Draw Mode and Trace Mode?

Draw Mode locks the picture on the screen so you can copy it by eye, and lets you fit, zoom, rotate, mirror and fade it while you work. Trace Mode lays the picture over the live camera, so when the phone looks down at your paper you can trace the lines straight through it.

Do I need to be good at drawing?

No. Trace Mode gives you the lines to follow, and Draw Mode lets you fade the reference down as your own drawing takes shape. Both were built for people starting out.

What do I need for Trace Mode?

Paper, a pencil, and a way to keep the phone still over the page — a phone holder is easiest. If the phone moves, the app tells you so you can line the picture up again.

Safety and privacy

Is it safe for children?

Safe Search is enforced on every source that offers it and cannot be switched off, on any account, at any age; the rest are curated archives. There are no public profiles and no messaging, so there is nobody in the app for a child to talk to.

Does the app record what the camera sees?

No. Trace Mode shows the camera on the screen so you can see your paper through the picture. Nothing from the camera is recorded and nothing is uploaded.

Are there ads?

There are no ads over the canvas. The drawing surface stays the drawing surface.

What happens to a photo I use with Create with AI?

It is sent once to the provider that makes the picture, and we never store it — not in the database, not in our file storage, not in a log. The picture that comes back is saved to My Images if you save it; the photo is not.

What information does the app collect?

Your account email address, a hashed password, the pictures you save and where each came from, your settings and your recent searches. The data use policy lists every category, why we have it, who processes it and how long it is kept.

Do you sell my data?

No. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising, there is no advertising anywhere in the app or on this site, and we do not train AI models on your pictures, photos, prompts or searches.

Pricing and Pro

What does it cost?

Searching, saving, Draw Mode and Trace Mode are free. Create with AI is part of Pro, a monthly or yearly subscription — the current prices are on the pricing page, and they are introductory.

Can I cancel Pro?

There is nothing to cancel yet — Pro is not on sale in the App Store or on Google Play, so no one is being charged. Once it is on sale, you will cancel it the way you cancel any subscription, from your subscription settings in the App Store or Play Store, and Pro will keep working until the end of the period you have already paid for. If we have given you Pro access without a subscription, email [email protected] and we will take it off.

Do I need Pro to draw or trace?

No. Searching, saving to My Images, Draw Mode and Trace Mode are all free, in full. Pro adds Create with AI, and nothing else sits behind it.

What happens when I run out of creations for the day?

Create with AI comes with a daily allowance — the number is on the pricing page. When you have used it up the app says so, and the count starts again the next day.

What happens to my pictures if I stop paying for Pro?

They stay where they are. Everything in My Images is yours with or without Pro, including the pictures you made with AI. Create with AI is the only part that stops.

Your account

Do I need an account?

Not to search, draw or trace. Saving pictures to My Images needs one, and the account holder has to be a parent or guardian aged 18 or over — children use the app on that adult's account, or as a guest, with the adult nearby.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Tap Delete Account in Profile. We email you a confirmation link, and nothing is removed until you open it — then the account and the images you saved go together. A guest session has no confirmable email address, so guest data is removed straight away.

Pictures and rights

Where do the pictures come from?

Nine image sources — Pixabay, Openverse, Pexels, Unsplash, Smithsonian, iNaturalist, NASA, Iconify and Google. You can choose which ones to search in the Sources picker.

Can I use the pictures for anything I like?

The pictures belong to the people who made them. Sketch Anything shows the source and the licence for every result and links back to the original, so you can check before a drawing goes anywhere but your own sketchbook.

A picture of mine is in the app. How do I get it out?

Email [email protected] with a link to it and a way to tell it apart, and we will remove it and tell the source it came from where we can. The same address takes formal copyright notices; the terms and conditions say what to include.
